Frequently Asked Questions About Drain Unblocking Costs

1. How much does it cost to unblock a drain in Lancashire?

For simple residential blockages that can be cleared by hand, we offer a fixed fee of £50. For more stubborn issues requiring high-pressure water jetting, prices typically range between £80 and £120 depending on the time required.

2. Is there really no call-out fee?

Correct. We do not charge a fee just for traveling to your property. You only pay for the diagnostic work or the actual unblocking service performed. This applies across Blackpool, Preston, and the wider PR3 area.

3. What if the £50 manual unblocking doesn't work?

If our engineer determines that manual rodding isn't enough (e.g., due to heavy fat build-up or root ingress), they will explain the situation and provide a fixed quote for mechanical jetting or a CCTV survey before proceeding. You are never obligated to continue if the price changes.

4. How much does a CCTV drain survey cost?

A standard residential HD CCTV survey starts from £90. This includes a full internal inspection of your pipes and a diagnostic report. These are essential for identifying structural damage or fulfilling home-buyer requirements.

5. What is the cost for "dig-up" repairs or pipe replacement?

Excavation and "dig-up" repairs are the most expensive option and are usually a last resort. Prices vary wildly depending on depth and location but can start from £500+. However, we often save customers money by using No-Dig Relining, which fixes the pipe from the inside at a fraction of the cost of a full excavation.

6. Do you offer discounts for first-time customers?

Yes! We often run promotions for a first order discount. Be sure to mention you found us online when booking your appointment to ensure you receive our most competitive rate.

7. Are commercial drainage rates higher than residential?

Commercial properties (like restaurants or hotels) often have more complex systems and larger grease traps. While we still offer competitive rates, commercial jobs are quoted on a case-by-case basis to ensure the correct industrial equipment is utilized. See our commercial services for more info.

8. What happens if the blockage is the water company's responsibility?

If we arrive and find the blockage is in the public sewer (usually outside your boundary), it is the responsibility of United Utilities. In these cases, we only charge for the site visit/diagnostic check, and you won't pay for the unblocking as the utility company provides that for free.
